Birmingham City Council Green Papers Start To Detail The End Of Local Government As We Know It

dec 5th draft B council house gradientAs a result of cuts to funding by Pickles and Osborne, and inflation & increased needs pushing up cuts – what Albert Bore has termed the Jaws Of Doom, Birmingham City Council is embarking on a complete review of all their services. Albert Bore has described this as being “the end of local government as we know it”, and things are only going to get worse, as Osborne announced in his spending review further cuts for local government funding after 2015. Some of the green papers and strategy documents are starting to emerge:

  1. THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE Adults & Communities have had no genuine consultation for 2 years and that wasn’t always based upon the views of service users.
As chair of Direct Payments (enabling adults to design their own more flexible care program that suits them and not external organisation determining the when s, where’s & how’s etc.) I have had meetings with Steve Bedser, Peter Hay & Charles Ashton- Gray and was told that there would be something organised by early June. This document is flawed and put together by people more concerned about protecting jobs, power and their control over failing systems. I would have gladly helped to put together a strategy that would not be about cutting jobs but now I feel that people who have ostracised those effected many of whom are more than suitably experienced and qualified. Officers such as Matthew Bick, Viv Eden, Sue Dale directly involved with consultation need to be sacked as they haven’t done their ‘job’ bringing on the basis of ‘gross misconduct’ as the council are open to legal action.
Final comment; last November I made it known that I am sitting on the basis of a legal action amounting to over £40million I guess they want me to bring it on.
ANYONE RECEIVING DIRECT PAYMENTS IN BIRMINGHAM AND NOT HAPPY ABOUT LACK OF INCREASES SINCE 2006 (almost 7 years) IN REAL TERMS A CUT IN SERVICE OR NEED MORE CARE NEEDS. THAN CURRENT RECEIVING PLEASE CONTACT ME;AS WE NEED TO BE IN THIS TOGETHER. WE HAVE BEEN ISOLATED FOR TOO LONG.
(This applies to people needing a service, family carers etc) Maybe we can organise a service user/carer/ interested parties conference dependent upon numbers.

  2. THESE ARE ALL UNACCEPTABLE AND BEEN A DRAGGED OUT WASTE OF TIME. Lets get together and organise our own meeting and force the Council to listen.
