A group of activists have occupied the Whit Marley Building, on Ivy Road in Stirchley and are in the process of cleaning and clearing it to open a social centre, which will be used as a community and political organising space.
Their website has more details as to why they are there, and what intentions there are for using the space – but it is clear that it is available for groups to use.
Although this is not strictly anti-cuts, it is hoped that this space will become a space for political organising, and we would encourage people to visit them and show support for a group of people opening unused spaces (the building is scheduled for demolition to make way for an ASDA superstore).
On Friday they are holding a welcoming event, from 6pm there will be a meeting to discuss uses for the space, and to show people what is there. Everyone is welcome to go along.
